Computer Scientist II
About the role
JOB LEVEL P40EMPLOYEE ROLE Individual Contributor
The Opportunity Adobe Photoshop is expanding its GenTech engineering team rapidly and wants an experienced Computer Scientist with a solid background in Generative AI technologies. This opportunity fits individuals who have practical knowledge of building and releasing AI-powered features for production and bring an AI-centered outlook to solving authentic creative problems. The successful applicant must demonstrate experience in crafting, developing, and scaling generative AI features for live production. They should possess strong knowledge of essential computer science principles and modern generative approaches including diffusion models, transformers, and large language models. Experience in integrating and refining AI models within intricate software systems is also required. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and creative teams to build innovative user-facing AI features for Photoshop. You will apply current AI tools, platforms, and techniques throughout the software development lifecycle to enhance system efficiency, developer productivity, and model performance.
What You Will Do Deliver high-quality, scalable GenTech features, owning them end-to-end — from ideation and prototyping to shipping production-grade capabilities powered by generative AI models. Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and UX groups across the globe to develop innovative, technology-enhanced "Adobe magic" experiences for Photoshop users. Drive innovation in the digital imaging and creative AI space, seeking opportunities to adopt an AI-first approach to improve Photoshop's generative capabilities. Use modern tools, platforms, and standard methodologies across the SDLC — including model integration pipelines, evaluation frameworks, automation, and observability — to improve system efficiency and developer productivity. Perform thoughtful, constructive code and build reviews, emphasizing quality, scalability, and responsible AI practices. Mentor and guide engineers, acting as a role model in building AI-first systems and promoting guidelines in generative AI engineering and production readiness.
What You Need to Succeed Bachelor's or graduate degree in Computer Science or related field. More than 5 years of experience in software development concentrating on AI or generative AI features. Practical experience working directly with generative AI frameworks and models, such as diffusion models, transformers, or LLMs. Demonstrated experience developing, launching, and scaling AI-powered features in a production environment. Strong C++ development and performance optimization skills. Experience with AI-first engineering and modern SDLC practices. Strong problem-solving skills; comfortable with ambiguity and complex technical challenges. Experience working in Agile, multi-functional environments. Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical collaborators. A strong interest in advancing digital imaging and creative AI, combined with dedication to keeping informed about developments in the sector.
